Q: How long will it take for the fragrance from Maggie’s Farm indoor spray products to dissipate inside my home?
A. The fragrance comes from the natural plant oils used in the ingredients, which are inherently fragrant. The fragrance is not harmful and generally dissipates shortly after product use. However, the "longevity" of the fragrance is a function of several factors, including: how much product was used, where the product was used, if the product was applied to any absorbent surfaces (e.g., carpet, upholstery, etc.), the relative humidity in the area sprayed, the amount of air circulation in the area sprayed, etc.If you find that the fragrance is too strong and/or lingers too long, there are several things you can do to minimize it (Click Here)
Q. Why does your formula have three botanical oils in the active ingredient? I have seen other botanical aerosols with just one plant oil listed.
A. Our research and testing has shown that various plant oils work better on certain groups of insects. We wanted our Maggie’s Farm Ant & Roach Killer to be effective on a wide variety of crawling insects, not just ants and roaches, so we utilize several plant oils as the active ingredient for that reason. Additionally, we have found the combination of certain plant oils in specific ratios provides a “synergistic effect” that enhances the overall efficacy of the product.
Q. What are polyglycerol oleate, butyl lactate and triethyl citrate listed in the inert ingredient section of the product label?
A. These ingredients are used as emulsifiers to help the oil and water in the formula to mix together well when the can is shaken to get an even, uniform mixture that is needed for product performance. Without these ingredients, the oil and water would remain separated (oil floats, water sinks), which compromises the effectiveness of the product. These ingredients are on the US EPA Minimum Risk Pesticide Program approved list of ingredients.
Q. How do you apply this product for ant control?
A. Trying to control ants in your home can be a challenge if you do not have the right ant spray, our formula works best if you can apply the ant spray to the entry points, around the perimeter of the home and also directly on the ants and their trails. To help with killing existing ants in your home, use our ant bait gel.
Maggie’s Farm Ant & Roach Killer is classified by the US EPA as a minimum-risk pesticide (see link: www.epa.gov/minimum-risk-pesticides).
Q. The Ant & Roach Killer was effective on the bugs sprayed, but will it keep them from coming back?
A. The Ant & Roach Killer is designed to kill fast. The natural repellency of our plant oils will also help to keep insects away for a short period of time after applying. We have seen residual effectiveness with Ant & Roach Killer in the laboratory for two weeks.
Q. Does Maggie’s Farm Ant & Roach Killer leave behind an oily residue that needs to be wiped up after spraying?
A. No, our indoor spray products are water-based, not oil-based, so they do not leave behind a messy oily residue that must be wiped up after spraying. Our water based sprays will not cause hard floor surfaces like hardwood and tile floors to become slippery like an oil-based spray. Oil based sprays can also cause staining issues on soft surfaces like fabrics, upholstery, rugs, carpet, and leather.
